Sample Sale Blow Out!
Join us for an incredible two weekends of sales in some of the most gorgeous gowns in the world.
Gowns at $499 and Couture bridals (most famous names in bridal) at $999. Off the rack up to 85% off retail.
Friday July 30 - 10 to 10;Yes,I believe in sample sales, especially at stores like ours (A Joyful Occasion) in which the samples are always in great condition. We have a cadre of very talented seamstresses who can tweak your sample to fit by simply taking in a few seams or expanding a bodice with a corset back. I purchased my own wedding gown as a sample because I fell in love with a Reem Acra for over $4000 and spent $1900 to obtain it. It was a size 10 and I am a size 4, but my legendary Mary Catomy stitched her magic, and it fit like a second skin! In some cases we may need to clean the gown to refresh it for an additional $75.00. If you take the gown yourself to Sunrise Cleaners who are wedding gown cleaners and preservationists, the retail price is $150., so we can save you additionally if you want your sample cleaned.
You will save 50-85% on our sale gowns. Most sizes are between 8 and 14. Some are amazingly famous couture names which I am not allowed to reveal over the internet. Some are discontinued but still very fashionable styles, just one or two seasons behind. Some are overstock purchases. Some are petite sizes. Many of the $999 group retailed for over $3000! Couture gowns are often very simple in terms of ornamentation, but amazing in terms of luxury silks, perfect workmanship which results in uniquely flattering fits, and amazing draping. Many of our off-the-rack selections have only been tried on a handful of times under careful supervision of our staff.
We will have a small group of super blowout gowns for $99 and $199. First come, first served. No holds on gowns. Final sale on all purchases.
Please keep groups to no more than four people with the bride to prevent overcrowding of the store. Each group will be offered an hour of sales time.
Appointments for regularly ordered gowns may also be made during the sale weekends, but please specify that you are not interested in the samples.
Be prepared to have a good time and find a bargain.
Best wishes--Freyda
Eclectic but Universally Elegant
The news from bridal central is eclectic but universally elegant. Ballgowns are back but definitely different from their stiff satin ancestors. Today's Cinderella wears feathered or ruffled lace and fluid tulle often embellished with dimensional floral appliques, ribbons and even POCKETS! Imagine having kleenex and lipstick at your fingertips for the evening. Pick-ups have evolved into more gentle and asymmetrical drapes. Rouching continues to dominate bridal silhouettes because it flatters the midsection, but smooth bodices often accomplish the same body wizardry with aggressive boning and princess seaming. Look for more attention to the natural waistline this year as well as fit-to-flare gowns which hug the curves. Gowns are arriving with slightly elevated natural waists which suggest but do not quite fulfill the empire look.
