Eclectic but Universally Elegant

The news from bridal central is eclectic but universally elegant. Ballgowns are back but definitely different from their stiff satin ancestors. Today's Cinderella wears feathered or ruffled lace and fluid tulle often embellished with dimensional floral appliques, ribbons and even POCKETS! Imagine having kleenex and lipstick at your fingertips for the evening. Pick-ups have evolved into more gentle and asymmetrical drapes. Rouching continues to dominate bridal silhouettes because it flatters the midsection, but smooth bodices often accomplish the same body wizardry with aggressive boning and princess seaming. Look for more attention to the natural waistline this year as well as fit-to-flare gowns which hug the curves. Gowns are arriving with slightly elevated natural waists which suggest but do not quite fulfill the empire look.

Destination gowns are no longer defined by fluttery chiffon alone. Many of the lightweight silk dupionis and taffetas are perfect on the beach. Check out Paloma Blanca-- the perfect gown for the destination diva who wants comfort and portability but not at the expense of the wow factor!

Strapless is no longer the only "game in town." Brides are seeking variety in bodices with newly gentle cap sleeves, sculpted V-necks which are definitely not matronly, one shoulder styles with a gentle corsage of silk flowers. Look to the fashion forward LaSposa gowns for rounded, architectural, and trend-setting as well as traditional necklines. Boleros and shrugs, either in matching fabrics. lace and faux fur create one image for the ceremony and another for the reception. LaSposa is brilliant at bringing tiers and ruffles, so feminine and romantic, from Barcelona to Naperville. Jeweled belts join sashes as a way to personalize and glamorize an otherwise unembellished gown.

Simple is never boring. Beautiful fabric, draping and tailoring create couture even at a budget. Beading is not for everyone. Trust your own beauty and happiness to create your most memorable bridal image as hit "the white carpet."

Feathers, flowers, and bedazzled ribbon headbands dominate the runway to complement the soft and unconstructed hairdos of the modern bride. The softer, more fluid gowns are at home with these new hairstyles and headpieces.

Bye, bye "queen for a day" tiaras. Hello, whimsical veils, birdcage, pouf, bubble as well as traditional cathedral and mantilla looks. The veil is still a magical component of the bride's attire, but it may be re-defined by a stunning flower, cluster, barrette,

or crystal vine.

This month we are welcoming a new and poetic line of gowns which are so exclusive and unadvertised as to be nearly poetic. Prices on these fashion-forward gowns will be exceptionally attractive, and you will not see them in any other local shops.

Stop by to see the "Poetica" dresses.

Your wedding gown is the Most Important Dress you will purchase in your lifetime. Choose it with your heart and celebrate its emotional significance as you anticipate your Joyful Occasion.

Warmly--Freyda
